The Tokyo Style Journal

An independent publication on men's grooming, barbering, and menswear, reported with a standing interest in Japanese craft — the tokoya straight razor, Okayama indigo, the softened suit.

About The Tokyo Style Journal

The Tokyo Style Journal is an independent publication about men's grooming, barbering, and menswear, read through a Japanese lens. We cover the chair, the wash basin, and the wardrobe with the same question: how is a thing actually made, and why does it work? From the tokoya straight-razor tradition to Okayama indigo to whatever is moving in the wider men's-style conversation, we write for men who care about craft and want guidance that respects their intelligence.

What we cover

Barbering and men's salons, grooming — hair, skin, shaving, fragrance — and menswear. We name the technique, the material, and the distinction, then explain why it matters to the reader. We are a journal, not a buyer's guide: considered, specific, and honest.

How we work

Every article is written and reviewed by our editorial team before publication. When a piece involves a paid partnership, we disclose it on the article and on the site. See our Disclosure.
